Single Hoop Frame for Heavy Duty Windsocks Description and Features

It has never been easier to buy your windsocks and supporting windsock hardware and frames online. Heavy duty windsock frames are available in 6 sizes and correspond perfectly with the windsocks we sell.

Our newly re-designed single hoop windsocks frames are manufactured from ¼” cold rolled steel and are made to be very durable and long-lasting. To install, simply take your ¾ NPT (for frame size 18"x24" and 36" or ½ NPT (for frame sizes 6", 10", 13") collar or female threaded pipe looking up and screw the extension rod into the awaiting threads.  These frames were recently re-designed to make the ring attachment arms one piece, both top, and bottom. This allows us for a very strong weld on top and overall creating the strongest frame on the market. 

The Custom Windsock Co only offers single hoop frames online. However if you contact us, we are able to provide an 18" extended hoop frame via manual payment. 

Types of Windsock Frames Available in the Market

There are two main types of frames available on the market. The type of frame you own or purchase will affect the type of windsock that will fit. 

Single Hoop Frame - This frame is the type sold at the Custom Windsock Company. It only has the one hoop attached to a base that allows for 360 degree movement.  This is a versatile frame as it allows any type of windsock with the correct hoop and sock diameter to fit. One drawback is that it does not keep a portion of the mouth open to allow for easy wind flow.

Double Hoop Frame (Extended Frame) - This frame has two hoops, one smaller and one larger that are attached to one another by a minimum of four welded spokes. This extended frame is attached to a base that has 360 degree movement. One advantage of this frame is that it permanently keeps the first 18"-24" of the windsock open which allows for wind to easily catch and flow through the windsock. 

Some drawbacks of this frame are that

• It is difficult to source
• It is expensive
• Sizing a windsock for this type of frame is difficult - you may be stuck with buying windsocks exclusively from the supplier of the frame - this limits your choice and options for windsocks in the future

Windsocks are made differently for single hoop frames than they are for double hoop frames. Its important to make sure you inform the manufacturer of your custom windsock or the supplier of your standard windsock, that you have a double hoop frame.

If you do not inform the supplier of your frame, your windsock will not stretch enough over the first hoop to make it to the second hoop when it is installed.

How to Measure your Existing Windsock

Fitting a Windsock onto Your Double or Extended Hoop Frame

If you have a double or extended hoop frame, you should ensure the replacement windsock you purchase will fit over both the outer and inner hoop of the frame. Every frame manufacturer has a different standard and thus some measuring is required to ensure that your replacement windsock will fit onto your frame. Your two options are:

1. If you do not have an existing windsock: Measure the diameter of the second hoop as well as the distance from the first hoop to the second hoop. See our visual guidebelow on which dimensions we require.

2. If you do have an existing windsock that fits your frame: Measure diameter of the inlet mouth, the length of the windsock as well as the diameter of the outlet mouth. See our guideabove on how to measure a windsock.

Heavy-Duty Windsock Installation

For Frame Sizes 18”, 24”, 36” from the Custom Windsock Co.

For Frame Sizes 6”, 10”, 13” from the Custom Windsock Co.

Step 1) Purchase a Windsock Frame

Step 2) Purchase a stainless steel ½ NPT female coupling and a ½ NPT male pole. One size of the coupling will thread into the bottom of the windsock frame and the other will thread onto your pole. The pole you purchase may be long or short, depending on your application and if you are going to attach it to anything else. These can easily be purchased from your local hardware store or here: 

• Coupling 
• 12” stub pole

Step 3) Attach the pole onto your structure

• Side of building or wall: You may want to use a vertical mount like this:
• On another pole: If you’re looking to put your windsock high in the air on a pole, chances are that a small diameter pole like above won’t do the trick. You can use another coupling with one side being ½ NPT and the other side being larger so it can attach onto another larger diameter pole that can be installed in the ground. The other option is to attach it onto your larger diameter pole with hose clamps or banding

Step 4) Install the windsock with the use of HD UV rated zip ties.

Delivery Time

Actual delivery time will vary based on your chosen shipping method. We typically use UPS to get your products to you fast.

Cancellations, Return and Refund Policy

Returns of Products with Defects

At the Custom Windsock Company, we want you to be satisfied when you receive your products. All custom products are tailor made to your specifications but because all the finishing and sewing is either done by hand or by a person with a sewing machine, sometimes there is potential for human error, however minimal. Under normal circumstances, our quality control department would pick up on it but sometimes things slip through and the order is dispatched. You might be wondering, what do I do incase of a manufacturing defect?

If our products are faulty in any way, you can return them within 14 days of receipt. You can contact our customer service department by calling 1-833-786-1035 or emailing info@custom-windsocks.com. Let us know your name, order number and concern and we will respond quickly to resolve your issues. We ask you provide a digital image of the fault in your product as well as a clear description of the problem.

In most cases, we will be able to resolve your issue via email. If the fault cannot be verified, you may need to return your product to us for inspection.

Returns of Non Faulty Products

With regards to all products, we cannot accept the returns of non-defective products. This is especially true for the products that the user has customized and designed as they have been customized as per the customer request.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Grace period 

Sometimes you may purchase a product but quickly decide that you do not wish to go through with the purchase. We wait 1 hour after you place an order to start accommodating for your order within our manufacturing queue. If you contact a representative by phone or email within the first hour then we will be able to cancel your order and issue a refund for the full amount. This hour begins form the moment you receive your confirmation email.

If you have any questions, doubts, concerns or things you wish to discuss about the product, feel free to give our team a call to address your concerns.

After Grace Period 

• If you have purchased a non-personalized/custom pritned item and you wish to return it prior to it shipping from our facility (after the 1 hour grace period has passed), a 25% restocking fee will be charged. Once a product is shipped, it may not be returned. 
• You do not have the right to return products that are customized (after the one hour grace period), even if they are not produced or shipped yet.
• In the unlikely event of a manufacturing fault, please inform us of the issue, provide pictures and we will be happy to replace your product free of charge.
• Manufacturer faults cover scratches, misprints, stitching or hemming issues. We, the manufacturer, will decide what falls under manufacturer faults.
• Complaints or claims must be notified to us within 14 days of receipt of goods or in the case of non-delivery, a reasonable time after the goods were expected to arrive.
